      Tuchfabrik Gebrüder Mehler

Located in eastern Bavaria, the Mehler Mill is over 350+ years old and the oldest continually operated mill in Germany. They don't know how old they actually are but the paper records go back 350 years. More importantly, they have survived this long because they make some of the finest world's finest Loden. Their Loden was being used in traditional German clothing well before it had to be called, "traditional clothing".
Part of their longevity is also attributable to their dedication to the community that supports them. Because they are a family owned and operated business, they can make decisions with a very long time horizon, not pressured by quarterly earning reports or stockholder demands. With that in mind, they know their success is due to the generations of skilled weavers who take pride in being a part of Loden tradition so they keep their interests front and center. They are a fixture in their hometown of Tirschenreuth.
